European Aristocracy
Lady Charlotte Campbell was a member of the aristocracy in British Isles.

Lady Charlotte Susan Maria Campbell was the younger daughter of John Campbell, 5th Duke of Argyll and his wife, Elizabeth Gunning, Baroness Hamilton of Hambledon.

Disputed birth date

Although she was definitely born in 1775, there are two different dates that appear in the literature. Paul in The Scots Peerage, has the 28th January, based on an issue of the Scot's Magazine and other works consulted, including One is the 28th January , and she was born at Argyll House, Oxford Street, London on 28 January or 18 February 1775, Wikipeida lists the January date[1] And her findagrave memorial lists the February one[2]

She married firstly, 21 June 1796, Colonel John Campbell, younger of Schawfield and Islay (born circa 1770, died 15 March 1809) and had nine children of whom[3];

  1. Walter Frederick Campbell, of Islay and Woodhall, born 10 April 1798;
  2. John George Campbell, born 1800, died 6 August 1830, married 1824, Ellen Flacke Barrington, (born 3 April 1802), daughter and co-heir of Sir Fitzwilliam Barrington, 10th Bart and had issue;
  3. Eliza Maria Campbell, died 1842, married as his first wife, 11 September 1815, Sir William Gordon Gordon-Cumming, of Altyre and Gordonstown, 2nd Bart, MP, (died 25 November 1854) and had issue;
  4. Eleonora Campbell, died 3 July 1828, married as his first wife, 5 August 1819, Henry Paget, 2nd Marquess of Anglesey (died 7 February 1869) and had issue;
  5. Harriet Charlotte Beaujolais Campbell, died 1 February 1848 at Naples, married 26 February 1821, Charles William Bury, 4th Earl of Charleville (born 29 April 1801, died 14 July 1851) and had issue;
  6. Adelaide Constance Campbell, died 14 August 1888, married 1 July 1835, Lieutenant-Colonel Lord Arthur Lennox, MP (born 2 October 1806, died 15 January 1864) and had issue;
  7. Emma Campbell, died 14 January 1886, married 17 May 1828, William Russell, Accountant General of the Court of Chancery (died 5 September 1884), son of Lord William Russell, and had issue;
  8. Julia Seymour Buccleuch Campbell, died 8 September 1858, married (1) 1836, as his second wife, Peter Langford Brooke, of Mere, county Chester (born 23 April 1793, died 9 January 1840); (2) Stewart Ker

Lady Charlotte married secondly, 17 March 1818, Reverend Edward John Bury (died 1832) and may have had a further two daughters
