Research notes

Family

Some sources indicate that Mary Erskine (sister of Sir Thomas Erskine, 1st Viscount Fentoun) was the first wife; Isabel Boyd, the second.[2]

Tweed (1871)[3] and Douglas (1798) [7] show five children all by Mary Erskine with a different presumptive birth order than listed above:

Two male children:

  1. Archibald, died before his father without issue
  2. Duncan

Three female children

  1. Isabella m. Sir James Stewart
  2. Anne m. John Campbell of Lochnell
  3. Florence m. John McLean of Coll.

Cokayne only notes that his heir, Sir Duncan Campbell Baronet of Auchinbreck, MP for Argylshire, was a child by Mary Erskine.[2]

Dugald died during a fire at Castle Auchinbreck.

Campbell-20383 and Campbell-1131 appear to represent the same person because: same name, same spouses, same parents, same title, same location, same time frame, the peerage has 1570-1641, but very close
