Mary (Campbell) McDonald was born in Scotland.

Mary was born at Allan in Fearn parish, Cromartyshire and baptised there on 29 January 1795. She is the daughter of Charles Campbell and Isobell Ross. The entry in the parish register reads Janry. 29th Charles Campbell, Smith in Allan and Isobel Ross his Spouse had a child baptized by the name of Mary. Witnesses John Ross, Grieve, & Norman Ross, Servant there. The Child was born said day...[1] (A grieve was the head worker on a farm - what we would now call a farm manager.)

Mary's parents are given as Charles Cameron, blacksmith and Bell Ross Cameron on the shipping indent.
