Biography

This is a work in progress...

I was born on August 12, 1964 to Juanita Alexander and Donald Byron Campbell, Jr. at Riverside Hospital, Newport News Virginia, the youngest of their four children and their third daughter, and last child. At the time, my father worked for the Newport News Shipyard. In about 1975 when the shipyard began layoffs, my parents made the decision for my Dad to take a job working for Booz Allen and Hamilton, a consulting firm doing work for the Navy, at the Pascagoula Shipyard in Jackson County MS. My Dad moved down to Pascagoula on his own for the first several months, renting an apartment. In the beginning of 1976, my mother, two sisters, Donna and Sandy, and I Joined him. My brother Steve remained in Newport News. My parents purchased a home in Moss Point, MS. I attended Moss Point Elementary School, Sandy attended Magnolia Jr. High and Donna, Moss Point High School. We became very active in the First Baptist Church in Moss Point.

In 1978, the contract with BA&H concluded and my Dad took a job working for RCA working on the AEGIS naval radar system. So we moved from Mississippi to New Jersey. That was a bit of a culture shock for several reasons. When we left Moss Point, I had completed the 6th grade at Magnolia Jr. High... and moved to NJ and started the 7th grade at Neeta Elementary School. Sandy went to Shawnee High School. Donna graduated from Moss Point High School and enrolled in the University of South Alabama in Birmingham.

Hi, Julie, and welcome to WikiTree from another Campbell researcher!

I'd suggest creating a separate tag for each of the names in your "SURNAMES" tag. If you have separate tags, you'll be able to click on them to see a lot of information about the surname including all of the profiles with that name. With the surnames combined, that won't be possible.

You'll also get notifications in your daily & weekly emails when there is activity relevant to your tag.

You can read more about Tags on the related help page here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Tags

A fast way to get to your Tags is with this link: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Following

Hi Julie!

Welcome to WikiTree! Be sure to take a look at the link in the email you just got. It has important information to help you get started. :-)

WikiTree is different than other genealogy websites because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we share ancestors and work together as a BIG collaborative team!

Confirm your email address, and you’ll be given an opportunity to fill in the Tags and comments to tell us about your genealogical interests. If you are interested in sharing your research and want to collaborate to add your family, please fill out the Tags on your profile page and click Save Tag(s) and Volunteer.

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will confirm your membership, and you'll be able to add your family to the tree!

Thanks, Cindy
