Just a precaution, that anyone who has researched this Campbell line has found so much confusing and conflicting information in the census records. Either by fault of census taker or perhaps mistrust of Campbells to give completely accurate information. There are two possible scenarios:
Scenario One:
"I have been sleuthing and sleuthing today and I think the jigsaw pieces are beginning to match up. I continued to pursue the Willliam Marion Campbell who married Mary Young. I am 100% certain that Mary Young is the aunt of the Calverna Young I have had in my tree for years, at first I thought sisters, now I know it is aunt. Calverna married Jefferson Page, brother to Sarah Page ( my Jonathon A Campbell's wife). In 1850, Calferna's family (parents Benjamin Malone Young and Tabitha Radford) lives next door to Sally Maxey and Randolph Lewis Maxey (future husband of Armilda Campbell) is living in Sally's household but he is too young to be her son, perhaps grandson). Randolph Lewis Maxey and Armilda Campbell have three children one of which is Susan Francis Maxey who is living with Granville Campbell (Armilda's brother) and his wife Elizabeth in 1870. I think Armilda dies before 1870 as Randolph Maxey remearries. In 1870 is where I find William M Campbell, wife Mary Young and children in Barren County and living with them is Granny Young (Elizabeth Maxey, Sally's daughter and mother of Benjamin Malone Young) and Jefferson Page with wife Calverna and 4 year old daughter. At first, I thought Jefferson and Calverna lived next door but looking back at the census, they are actually living in William and Mary Campbell's house. Benjamin Malone Young seems to remain in Cumberland county until at least 1900 but he dies in Bates County, MO in 1912. His brothers James C M Young and Alvis Newton Young had moved there previously. The Youngs and Radfords were pioneers of Spruce and Deep Water, Bates County, MO. There is an interesting article attached to JCM Young in some of the trees that tells about a large wagon train heading west and three of the wagons stopped to settle this area, among them JCM Young and some Radfords. JCM Young married Ann Radford. It's funny that William Marion Campbell and wife Mary "disappear" from KY in the 1860 census as does Elizabeth Maxey, Jefferson Page, and Calverna Young (though I didn't think they were married yet). I think I will have to look in Missouri (or Texas or Oklahoma or Kansas where the rest of the trains were bound for. to see if I can find some records for these missing folks."
"I just really feel that the Willliam M Campbell in 1870 in Barrren County and married to Mary Young is the real Marion. There are too many coincidences of him interacting with my Page family and the Fannie's children. 1) Calverna, wife of Jeff Page (my family) is living in his house, 2) his wife Mary Young's mother is Elizabeth Maxey and somehow she is related to Randolph Maxey as he is living in her mother Sally Maxey's house 3) Armilda Campbell marries Randolph Maxey and 4) their daughter is living in Granville Campbell's (Armilda's brother) house in 1870."
Link to John Samuel Campbell's death record Lists parents as Marion Campbell and Mary Young Campbell, both of unknown origin. John Samuel Campbell was born 8 Mar 1859 in Cumberland County, KY and died 14 Nov 1939 in Edmonson, KY
Senario Two:
Marion died before the 1870 census, leaving his 2nd wife and children to live with his mother Frances. There is a William Marion Campbell who appears in the 1870 census in Barren County, KY; however I do not believe him to be the same person. If you look at the ages of that man's children, it interferes with the ages of John Alexander Campbell (and in that circumstance he would have divorced his wife, etc.)
Marriage first to (about 1844) : ______________________. She would have died about 1849 (before the 1850 census.)
Marriage second (after 1850 census) to C.A. Unknown.
