Hubert was born in 1920. He passed away in 1983.
My father was 27 years in the United States Navy. He was a WW2 vet. During his career he served during the Korean Conflict. He was on a ship that loaded Marines from Camp Pendleton and sailed to the Caribbean during the Cuban Missile. He was station aboard a ship cruising off of Vietnam. He actually joined the Navy before Pearl Harbor. He was also present at the Bikini Nuclear Test. Hubert died just before his 63rd birthday. While the U.S Navy did not officially recognize it, his exposure to asbestos, sand-blasting, and radiation were probably responsible for his cancer. He was medically retired. In his post-retirement years he returned to get his degrees, both a BA and Masters from San Diego State University. He was ordained in the American Baptist Church and was a pastor of a church in San Diego.
Social Security claimed he was born 26 May 1920; however, he and the family always used the June 28th date as his birthday until he was 62, then he used May to get his social security because SSA didn't recognize the June birthday.
