Anna MacDonald (in Islay, Argyllshire, Scotland–); issue (surname Campbell): Dugald 2nd of Craignish (in Craignish, Lochow–abt. 1220). iii. son Sir Duncan Campbell of Lochow b. in 1158 in Lochow; m. Findoig (Finval) MacGilmory (abt. 1192 in Argyllshire–) about 1210 in Scotland when about 52 years old (Findoig (Finval) was about 18 years old); issue (surname Campbell): Sir Gillespic (Archibald) of Menstrie (1199–abt. 1280), Duncan ’Dubh’ 1st of Strachur (abt. 1212–1280) and Moir Maith (abt. 1216 in Lochow–).

(Research Note: an archived site, Scotiae.de had another generation here as son of Duncan and father of Archibald - an Archibald or Dugald Campbell (1182-1204) m. Finlay MacGillivray (1180- ) who had 4 sons Archibald (m. Errick Carrick b. 1201 and were parents of Sir Colin 'Mor') Hugh b. 1202, Moir Moir Maith b.1204 and Duncan b. 1200.). This is also shown on the MacFarlane Clan & Families Genealogy site.[3]

Killed during the seige of Dundtaffinage Castle ALTERNATE DEATH: SEIGE OF DUNSTAFFNAGE CASTLE Caile Campbell ... He passed away in 1110.

Alt. Death Aft 1222 [1] (Research Note: Alternate death date of 1222 is not possible. Alternates are 1040 and 1090 A.D. Its possible two separate persons were merged at some point in the history of the clan.)

  • A father's death date (Campbell-6099 died 1120) should not be more than nine months before one of his children's birth dates (Campbell-2513 born 1130) .

Reading SP, p. 319, it appears that the Gillespic/Archibald listed there is a later generation as he is said to have died in 1280.
