  • Fact: http://familysearch.org/v1/LifeSketch Roderick Alex Campbell was born in California to Alexander Campbell and Harriet Mary Dewar on 1 September 1890. Shortly after his birth his mother felt that California was not to her liking to raise her children so petitioned Alexander to return to Glengarry Ontario. He agreed and thus Roderick was brought to Canada before he was a year old. He married Mary Robertson McMaster in 1914. In 1922, they settled on a farm located at 38-7 Lochiel at Laggan previously owned by Alexander's nephew Roderick MacLeod but deeded to Alexander in 1920 after Roderick died. It was here that Roddy and Mary raised a family of 4 girls and 3 boys.

The depression years forced the abandonment of this farm, thus Roderick brought his family to Kirkland Lake in 1937,where his youngest brother Malcolm had moved to in 1936. Roddy found employment at Tech Hughes Mines and was there until 1940 when he was let go.He then moved his family to Cornwall Ontario where he was employed at a local paper mill from where he retired from in1955. His wife Mary died in 1956, Roderick to follow in 1959.
