There are some who believe (apparently with some evidence) that Abigail Campbell was married first to Samuel Gordon and that he was the father of her oldest three children. I'm still looking for evidence to back this up. I have not found a marriage record for this marriage or for her marriage to David Craig.

According to another researcher, this Census record shows Samuel Gordon with a young wife of the right age living next door to Benjamin Campbell:
