There is an inventory of his estate dated February 1838 [7][8]

The estate was paid out to the adult heirs in July 1839. [9][10]

By July 1841, the 3 older children of his daughter, Elizabeth Dodson had reached the age or had married and had received their portions. The only portion left for was Lazarus who had not yet reached age 16. [11][12]

It appears John last shows in 1839 Taxes, District 5, right side, just below the middle of the page, 443 Acres, after his name, does that look like dec'd? Possibly him, not sure. Looks to be there every year before that.

John was in a tax record in 1839 in Claiborne, Tennessee, United States.<ref> Tax Record: "Tennessee, U.S., Early Tax List Records, 1783-1895"

In 1839, there is a land deed where Jacob Campbell buys his siblings portion of John Campbell's tract conveyed from William Willoughby dated 16 February 1839, the witness Hugh Dobkins and both Ruth and Eliza were examined away from their husbands 27 July 1839 and registered 12 September 1839. Jane Campbell sold her dower right to Jacob on 16 February 1839 and it was also registered 12 September 1839. These are in Claiborne County Deed book N on pages 129-131 and 134.
