Biography

Harrison M Campbell was the son of born Henry Campbell and Ann Callin, born on 8 Dec 1837 in Ohio. He was raised on his family’s farm in Milton, Ashland County, Ohio, and in Ashland, Ashland County. Harrison enlisted on 15 Sep 1861 and mustered in as a private with Company I, New York 59th Infantry Regiment on 19 Oct 1861. Mustered out on 15 Sep 1864 at Petersburg, Virginia.[1][2][3][4]

Harrison married Catherine Hoot on 9 Nov 1865 in Ashland County, Ohio. Catherine Hoot, daughter of Nathaniel Hoot (1817–1879) and Margaret Fry (1825–1848), was born in Jul 1846 and grew up in Perry, Ashland County, Ohio, and in Franklin, Richland County. Catherine was a half-sister of John Bently Hoot, who married Harrison’s sister, Frances.[5][6][7][8]

Harrison M Campbell and Catherine Hoot had eight children:

After Harrison and Catherine married, they moved to Mill Creek, Morgan County, Missouri. They farmed and raised their large family there. The Callin Family History and the census placed Harrison and Catherine in Tipton, Moniteau County, Missouri in 1910, but they migrated to the Pacific Northwest soon after that, and they were recorded living in Forest Grove, Washington County, Oregon by 1920.[9][10][11][12][13]

Harrison died on 27 Dec 1924 at age 87 and was buried in Forest View Cemetery in Forest Grove. Catherine died on 21 Mar 1930 at age 83 and was buried with her husband.[14][15][16]
