Eliza was born in 1846. She passed away in 1920.
The 1880 Census for Knoxville, Ray County, Missouri states that Eliza's father was born in Germany and that her mother was born in Tennessee. Whereas the 1900 through 1920 Censuses for the same place states that it was Germany and Kentucky, respectively. The 1920 Census also adds that German was her father's native tongue.
She appears to be the Eliza Campbell found in the 1850 Census for Caldwell County, Missouri who was living in the household of James and Sarah Campbell. Her death certificate states that her parents were Jerry Campbell of Tennessee and Sarah Hatfield of Tennessee, and this information was provided by Mrs. W. E. Watson (her daughter, Leta Leona Rone). It would appear that these were her adoptive parents, so the question is, who were her natural parents?
