James of Lawers was much in favor with King James VI and was sheriff of Perthshire. He had a charter 31 July 1595 in the marriage contract to land in Fordew and others in Perthshire.[1] He also had a charter to Sestill, Perthshire on 4 March 1603, to Ardonnen from James Haldane of Gleneagles on 21 Aug. 1612, and to Finnard in Rannoch on 12 Jan. 1619.[1] James died at Lawers in 1645 [2]
