You are entitled to your opinion. The Scotland Project Managers chose a tartan for each clan which is recognised by the Scottish Tartans Authority, the legal authority and regulator on tartans. Clearly MacCailein Mor recognises it or his late father did when the Official Register of Scottish Tartans was created.
If you read the entry, the 12th Duke of Argyle, and the current Duke affirmed the statement, that the tartans as described in the link are the official tartans. The Register of Scottish Tartans does not determine what Clans consider official.
