Charles Canaday of Maryland, son of John Canaday and Unknown of North Sassafras, Cecil County, Maryland. Charles inherited property from his father in Jan 1716. [1]
Born: Unknown, perhaps c1700 +, apparently a minor as of Jan 1716.
Birthplace: Uncertain, likely Sassafras, Cecil, Maryland where his father had a small plantation (farm).
The Canadays were Maryland Quakers.
1716: Considerable turmoil was occurring in Maryland at the time Charles and his sister Mary inherited their parents' farm. It is thought they subsequently moved to Prince George's County where Charles married to Phebe Beals.

Lineage Issues
Charles is generally ascribed as an unverified son of a different John Cannaday by various chroniclers, however, recent research shows said man and his wife both died in 1704. Circumstantially, it appears far more likely Charles belongs to this Canaday line due to known Quaker ties and migration patterns of early Maryland Quakers. Notably, Canaday's removed from Sassafras well before 1790 census and trace-backs verifying this family line are research-intensive but underway...
