Biography

Daniel Candler suffered from depression. It became worse after fighting in a duel and nearly killing the other man, his depression was extreme. The other man was Capt. Snow, of the legislature from Burke County, Georgia. Snow was seriously but not mortally injured. Daniel also received a pistol ball in his cravat but was not seriously injured. However, Daniel did retreat to his bed and remained there, starving until his death.

His son Samuel was only 6 years old when he died. Samuel was raised by aunt and uncle, Mary Candler Few and Ignatius Few.
