Biography

Samuel Candler was born November 1, 1913.[1]

Samuel Candler was enumerated as son of the head of household at Briar Cliff Road, Decatur, DeKalb County, Georgia for the January 2, United States Census, 1920. He was noted as born 1915 in Georgia and single as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household are head Asa G Candler Jr., wife Hellen Candler, daughter Lucy Candler, son John Candler, daughter Laura Candler, daughter Hellen Candler and daughter Martha Candler. Also included in the household but not transcribed were servant Landrum Anderson, maid Jessy Anderson (apparently the wife of Landrum), cook Fannie Upshaw and chauffeur (driver) Eli Johnson.[2]

Samuel Candler was enumerated as son of the head of household at 1260 Briarcliff Road, Militia District 0531, DeKalb County, Georgia for the April 12, United States Census, 1930. He was noted as born 1915 in Georgia and single as seen in an image of the original census. Also included in the household are head Asa G Candler, wife Florence Candler, daughter Martha Candler, daughter Helen Candler, servant Jose Cruz, servant Philemon Cruz and servant Vicencio Devera.[3]

On April 1, 1935, Samuel Candler lived in DeKalb County, Georgia.[4]

Samuel Candler was enumerated as head of the household at Briarcliff Road Northeast, Ward 6, Atlanta, Atlanta City, DeKalb County, Georgia for the April 20, United States Census, 1940. He was noted as born 1915 in Georgia and married. He rented a home and was shown to be a vice-president (hotel) as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife Pauline S Candler and daughter Ann Candler.[4]

Samuel Candler died March 3, 1970 in Fulton County, Georgia.[5]

Samuel Candler is listed in the March, 1970 United States Social Security Death Index. He had received his Social Security number in Georgia.[1]

As is listed in the Find A Grave Index,[6] Samuel Candler is buried at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia.[7]
