Biography

John Cannon was aged about 53 when he made his will on 10 May 1696. Although it was not proved until 1 Feb 1696/7, he died before Sept. 1696 when his widow, now called Hester, married Abraham Childers, the son of Phillemon Childers, Sr., and first cousin to Abraham Childers III.

There were other CANNON families living in Virginia - if or how they might be related is unknown.

1 Apr 1686 Henrico Co., Virginia. John Cannon was deposed as follows: He was about 43 years old and was a neighbor of John Pledge for 4 or 5 years. Pledge had 20 head of hogs or thereabout two or three years prior, and had never wronged any person of anything. Suit was brought by Abraham Childers against John Pledge alleging that Pledge had stolen some pigs from Childers.

Will of John Cannon dated 10 May 1696
John Cannon by his will gave
To son John the land on Four Mile Creek and Spring Branch bounded by John Pledge.
To son William he gave land on Four Mile Creek above Spring Branch up to the bridge and bounded by the road.
To son Joseph he gave the land above the road up Four Mile Creek to Mirey Branch.
Daughter Mary received a heifer called Venture.
All the rest of the animals, household goods, etc., were given to wife Esther and she was named executrix.
His loving friends Nich. Perkins, John Pledge (his brother-in-law), and John Redford were to be overseers

Witnesses: John Pledge (brother-in-law), Edward Mathews and Phill Childers.

Abraham Childers, Jr., and Hester his wife were granted probate of the will of John Cannon on 1 Feb. 1696/7.

There is absolutely NO record or document or proof that has surfaced to say that Simcock Cannon is related to this Cannon family and certainly not a son of William Cannon & Judith Woodson. Simcock is also not a son o John Cannon, Jr & Mary Price. More detailed research is needed.

???John CANNON and Hester/Esther PLEDGE are the grandparents of Simcock CANNON. After John CANNON died, Hester married Abraham CHILDRES. John CANNON and Hester PLEDGE had the following known children:

this man is not the son of samuel kennon, the Cannon and the Kennon family are 2 different unrelated family lines. please remove him from the kennon family. there is no documentation to support any relationship with the Kennon family.
