Thomas was born about 1885, based on the census data found. He passed away after 1940.
Research notes
There may be a conflation of Thomas Cannons. Found Lila V Cannon in four other censuses in Cannon households, but three in Missouri[1][2][3] and and in Spartanburg.[4] There is a Thomas Melvin "Tom" Cannon on FAG, buried in Granby, Kansas, which location matches the 1920, 1930, & 1940 Census locations. Additionally, there is a Thomas Dewitt Cannon buried in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Added a draft registration for WWI, on which Thomas Melvin Cannon gives New Mexico as his birthplace, although every census has Missouri is listed.
Parents' birth places given as follows:
All of the above are Censuses from Granby, Newton County, Missouri. In 1900, Thomas M Cannon is listed as living with mother, Martha A Cannon and uncle, Elisha Bell. In 1910, Thomas L Cannon is living with William and Ida B Loyd. The 1880[7] census of Granby, Newton, Missouri lists Martha A Cannon, married, and daughter, Ida B Cannon, living with Martha's father, Jeremiah Bell. needs more research.
