Patrick was born in 1840, the third son of Cornelius Cannon.

He married Maria Ryan in County Adagh, May 6 1859.^[1]

He passed away in 1890 aged 50. ^[3] He is buried at Kilmore Catholic Cemetery. ^[4]

Obituary

CANNON.—On the 15th May, Patrick Cannon, native of Newtown, Lusmagh, King's Co., Ireland, and husband of Maria Cannon, of Broadmeadows, aged 50 years. CANNON.—On the 23rd May, at Kilmore, Patrick, third son of the late Cornelius Cannon, Newtown, Lusraugh, King's Co., Ireland, aged 53 years. R.I.P. —Inserted by his beloved sister, Mrs. Stapleton, Kew Asylum. ^[5]

Research Notes

Victoria BDM has another Patrick Cannon 1821-1862 who died in Victoria. it would be important to establish if this particular gentleman is the same gentleman who was a Roman Catholic clergyman as there are newspaper reports on Trove about Patrick Cannon, 'losing his intellect' and being sent to Kew Asylum. It is difficult to tell if they are one and the same person because the two obituaries MIGHT be the same person - and might not be.
