By 1881 the family had moved to Uxbridge, Middlesex, and William was living with his parents, two brothers and three sisters.[6]

His sister Mary Ann had already left home to work as a servant nearby,[7] and his youngest brother Frederick had yet to be born.
He and his father were both carpenters. William Thomas married Rosa Ansell Cannon June 30th 1888, at St Johns Church, Uxbridge Moor in Middlesex. His half brother Edward Bendy was one of the witnesses.[8][9] Rose's father Henry was a brewer's drayman.
They moved to a house in Cowley Mill Road just a few doors away from his now widowed mother and lived there with the first of their two children Herbert Henry Cannon and William Ewart Cannon.[10]
By the 1901 census they had moved to Reginald Road, Northwood, Ruislip, Middlesex,[11] and now had five more children:
Arthur E Cannon, Percy A Cannon, Edith Mary Cannon, Rosina Cannon, and Dorothy A Cannon.
In the 1921 Census (Purchase required to view) William age nearly 58 and Rosa age 60 were living at 7 Meadow Road, Pinner, Middlesex. He was a builder and decorator employing his two sons William (30) and Percy (27), while Rosina (24) and Dorothy (23) were working at the Ministry of Pensions, Acton, as clerks. His son Herbert Henry had emigrated to Australia in 1911.
In 1929, his wife Rose died, at that time they were living in St Leonards on Sea, Sussex, at 21 Paynton Road.[12]
William died in Northwood Hospital on 17 June 1938, and his funeral was held in Hastings, Sussex on 21 June 1938.[13]

We regret to record the death. in Northwood Hospital, on Friday, of Mr. William Thomas Cannon, of Hallowell-road, Northwood. He was 74 years of age. Mr. Cannon was a builder well known in the district. The funeral took place at Hastings on Tuesday.
