Biography

I believe that the Cansler family you are looking for may trace back to Gaspar Kuentzler who arrived from Switzerland Jan 1738 in Charleston, SC. He arrived with his brother Conrad(presumed but unproved). Conrad Kuentzler's children took on the "Kinsler" name that is prominent in SC. Gaspar had a son (wife unkown) John "Kensler" in Saxe-Gothe SC who married Anna Henderson, daughter of Nathaniel Henderson and Elizabeth Carroll. John and Anna had 4 sons: James, John, William and Nathaniel who took on the last name of Cansler. They were born in either York County, SC or the Pendleton District, SC. Nathaniel married Mary Polly (last name unkown) and relocated to McMinn County, TN with their children including John. Their son John was born in Pendleton District, SC abt 1808 and married Nancy Boone, daughter of Israel Boone and Elizabeth Moore. The Boone's had relocated to McMinn County TN from Rowan, NC. John and Nancy then moved to Maries County, MO. after having several children. John and Nancy are in the 1830 McMinn county census with 1 boy and 2 girls under 5 years. Hope this helps. jc

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
