Biography
Elizabeth Canton was the daughter of William and Sarah Canton, a farmer from Freystrop. Elizabeth can be found on the 1841 census for Freystrop, living at her parent’s farm Elizabeth married George Williams in 1849 at Freystrop parish church. The couple went on to have seven children, William (b 1848) Sarah (b 1849) Joseph (b 1851) Isaac (b 1851) James (b 1854) Mary (b 1860) and the youngest Thomas (b 1862) 1861 and we see Elizabeth and George still in Freystrop, and have five of their children living at the family home, in addition Elizabeth, has a nephew living at the family home, he is William Canton born 1855, in Freystrop. As yet I have not been able to establish who the parents of William are, but he is still living with George and Elizabeth in 1871, at the family home in Freystrop. As yet I have not researched Elizabeth’s branch of the family tree beyond 1871. If anyone has any information regarding her side of the family, please get back in touch, and help me update their respective profiles.
