Dudley was born in 1886. He was the son of Charles Canton and Agnes Ellis. During WW1 he joined up as a Private soldier with the 7th Bn. The Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment). Almost certainly wounded during the first battle of Passchendaele in 1917 and evacuated to the major British hospital in Boulogne he died aged 32 on October 16 and was buried in the CWGC Boulogne Eastern Cemetery.
