Delbert Wayne Canton, of Joplin, died at St. John's Hospital at 11:30 pm on Friday, Sept. 26, 2008.
He was born Dec. 31, 1922, in Humansville, Mo, to the late Willie Canton and Viola Hopper Canton. He was a Veteran of World War II. He married Elizabeth "Betty" L. Roderique on Sept. 5, 1944, at Fort Jackson, SC. She survives.
Active in many organizations, and were founders of the local St. Vincent de Paul Society, an organization that assists people in distress. He was zealous in his work on behalf of the society, answering the call of need at any time of the day or night.
