Sarah E. Cantrell was born to Isaac Cantrell and Elizabeth Womack Cantrell in November 1852 in Tennessee.
Sarah E. Cantrell first married William S. Moseley.
In 1870, when Sarah E. Cantrell Moseley was 18, she married James E. Carr (1881-1905).
Sarah E. Cantrell Moseley Carr and James E. Carr had three sons:

- Mary Ann Carr
- Lettie Moeller
Sarah E. Cantrell Moseley Carr passed away on March 11, 1917 at the age of 64. She is buried at the Steele Memorial Cemetery in Hartville, Missouri.
