Daily Telegraph (Sydney, NSW : 1883 - 1930), Tuesday 26 January 1909, page 6. [5] Mr. John Capel, a pioneer squatter, died on Sunday night at his homestead, Rocky Creek. He had been ailing for three years from an internal trouble. Deceased was one of the original firm of Capel Bros., whose properties had lately been divided, each taking a station. Deceased leaves a wife, two sons, six daughters, and six brothers. He was 68 years of age, and the eldest son of the late Mr. Daniel Capel, formerly owner of Piedmont.
