Biography

Eliza Caplette was a Canadian First Peoples and member of the Métis Nation.

Louise (Eliza) Caplette was born at St. James in May 1844 to Joseph Caplette and Marguerite Branconnier.[1]

Eliza married Francois Sauve (son of Jean Baptiste Sauve and Marguerite Maskegone or Saulteaux) at St. Boniface, Manitoba on 10 Jan 1865.[2]

At the time of the 1870 census of Manitoba, their family was enumerated at st. Charles.[3]

On 29 Jun 1875, Eliza signed an affidavit claiming Métis scrip, which was issued on 20 Sep 1876.[1]

She married Cuthbert Gariepy at Milk River, Montana on 25 Jan 1880.[2]

Eliza married Louis Dumais (son of Charles Dumais and Marie St. Arnaud) at Milk River on 11 Feb 1882.[2]

She passed away on 7 Feb 1907.[4] Burial took place at St. Ignace, Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan on 8 Feb 1907.[5]
