Biography

John Michael Capone was born in 1929. He was the son of Joseph Capone and Ruth Fontenelle. He passed away in 2016.

John Michael Capone age 86, a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend was called to heaven on Wednesday, July 06, 2016. Beloved husband of the late Janet Marie Cosse Capone. Son of the late Joseph and Ruth Fontenelle Capone. Father of Mickey Capone Bergeron, (the late Roland J. Bergeron, Jr.) David Capone, Cynthia Capone and Donna Capone-Binder. Grandfather of Ryan, Rachel, Alex, Brian, Robert III, Juliet and the late Melanie Capone. Great Grandfather of Sabastien and Juliana. He is also survived by sisters, Ruth Beshel, Audrey Vinson and preceded in death by brothers, Joseph Capone, Jr. and Lawrence Capone. He was a lifelong resident of Pointe-ala-Hache, LA. He was a graduate of Saint Stainislaus High School Class of 1948, Bay St. Louis, MS. Mike, as he was known by all, began his employment history with the Freeport Sulphur Company. He then began working for Beshel's Furniture Factory in 1951 where he worked as the foreman for 33 years. In 1972 the Beshel's Boat Launch was opened and along with his employment at the furniture factory he also worked as the General Manager of the boat launch. He retired from the factory in 1984 and continued his employment at the Beshel Boat Launch for another 10 years. At a very young age Mike accompanied his father as a fire fighter with the volunteer Fire Department of Pointe-ala-Hache. When his father retired he continued his service with the fire department as the Chief until the late 90's. He also served as Justice of the Peace from 1964 to 1985. Mike was known as a loving Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He will be missed by family and countless friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Monday, July 11, 2016 in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of JACOB SCHOEN & SON, 3827 Canal St at 11:00 am. Friends may visit after 9:00 AM. He will be laid to rest alongside his loving wife in Greenwood Mausoleum.
