DEATH REPORT. RIFLE EXPLODES. Farmer Shot Dead. MERREDIN. Sept. 19.—Wilfred Toroton Caporn (55), a well-known farmer at Nukarni, died in hospital on Sunday evening as a result of a gunshot wound. On Saturday at noon he picked up a 0.44 calibre rifle to shoot a fox with. According to a statement which Mr. Caporn made subsequently, the gun accidentally exploded and the bullet entered his stomach. He was taken to Merredin Hospital and operated on the same evening, but he died 24 hours later. Deceased was highly respected. He leaves six children. The funeral took place this afternoon, when about 30 cars followed the hearse.

INQUEST REPORT. FARMER'S ACCIDENTAL DEATH. MERREDIN, Sept. 21.—Mr. H. Hornby, acting Coroner, held an inquest to-day concerning the death of Wilfred Toronto Caporn, who was found shot on his farm last Saturday. He found that death was caused by a gunshot wound accidentally self-inflicted.
