The Greenville News (SC) - Thursday, January 23, 1986

PIEDMONT, SC - William Iler Capps, 79, of Route 2, Mahaffey Road, husband of Hortense Sherman Capps, died Wednesday at his home.

Born in South Carolina, he was a son of the late Walter and Addie Capell Capps. He was retired from J. P. Stevens Estes Plant and attended Piedmont Mission Church.

His first marriage was to the late Ione Pittman Capps.

Surviving in addition to his wife of his home, are five daughters, Mrs. James (Margaret) Brown, Mrs. Mason (Helen) Smith, both of Piedmont, Mrs. Sylvia Brazeal of Greenville, Mrs. Paul (Dot) Harrison of Pelzer, and Mrs. Jimmy (Jackie) Roberts of Oxnard, California; five sons, Kent Capps and Ronnie Capps, both of Williamston, Bobby Joe Capps of Piedmont, James William Capps of Pelzer, and Richard Henry Capps of Belton; five sisters, Altha Garrett of Pelzer, Florence Hiette of Greenville, Annie Davis, Dovie Hooper and Betty Holcombe, all of Piedmont; twenty-seven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 AM at Gray Mortuary Chapel by Rev. Veldee Cooper and Rev. Charles Bell, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Piedmont.

The body is at Gray Mortuary of Pelzer, where the family will receive friends Thursday from 7 until 8:30 PM.

The family is at the home of a son, Bobby Joe (Bullet) Capps, Osteen Hill Road, Piedmont.
