Allan Capps USN(ret.) is a member of the Doby Name Study Project.
Doby Name Study: For years my sister, neice and I have been researching my maternal grandfather's family, the Doby family, but there is little information to be found. In 2021 I decided to start a one-name-study for the Doby name and all it's spelling variations (Doby, Dobie, Dobey, Dobby, Dobbie, Dobbey, etc.).
Doby settlers in Rowan and Davidson Counties, NC between 1787 and 1850.

Capps Name Study. There are at least two lines of Capps families in the United States that do not have a common ancestor in the U.S. The goal of this project is to identity and document all Capps family members and descendants. Visit the page for details on how to volunteer.
I have been a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Whitsett, NC. I am working through the church history, including the old church directories and adding current and former church members into Wikitree.

Thanks for having a Big Heart and taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. You will want to read this After Adopting Orphans as it explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. You may also want to go through the new member help on How to manage your Watchlist.
Thanks for the info. The profiles I adopted are all part of the Doby Name Study. I will add them to the "needs review" category and get to them as I move through the research. Thanks again.
Alan, thanks for all you do. I'm a decendent of William Rogers Capps and Lucy Fly. We drove from Wisconsin to spread my Dad's ashes and we found the Capps Cemetery near Greenfield TN. It was an awesome experience and a thrill of a lifetime. Hard to explain to people but if it weren't for our ancestors, there would be no us. Thanks again for all you do.
Hello there Allan! I was looking at all my "one to many" matches on gedmatch and see that you also have your information on Wikitree! I'd love to figure out our connection, though we only share 27 cm. :) I see most of your ancestry is in Virginia. I only have a couple branches from that area: Davenport and Camden.
