Mrs. Lena Runnels

Mrs. Lena Caraway Runnels, 76, a resident of Rt. 3, Box 529, Gulfport, in the Orange Grove Community, died this morning at 7:02 o'clock at the Driftwood Nursing Center in Gulfport where she had been a patient for five months.

Mrs. Runnels, born Oct. 6, 1894, in Wortham, Tex., had resided in Magee for 40 years prior to moving to the Coast six years ago.

She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, O. E. (Edward) Runnels, Orange Grove; and Leroy Runnels, Crystal Springs; two brothers, George Caraway and Jesse Ware, both of Wichita Falls, Tex.; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

The body was sent from Riemann Funeral Home in Gulfport to the Mims-Mitchell Funeral Home in Magee where friends may call tonight. The funeral service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Goodwater Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Estes, pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church of Landon, officiating. Interment will be in the Goodwater Baptist Church Cemetery.[1]
