Anna was the daughter of Willem Carbentus, a bookbinder, and Anna Cornelia van der Gaag, born 10th September 1819 in 's-Gravenhage.[1] Witnesses of the birth were Pieter Leonardus van der Gaag and Cornelius Pieter van der Gaag, her maternal uncles.
