Doris was born in Corning, New York to Phillip Card and Nellie Harrington. She was the sixth member of the family, with three older brothers. The seventh member, my sister, came along 2.5 years later. I lived in several towns in New York and moved to Wyoming a month before my 6th birthday. I went to school in various towns around Wyoming and a few in Montana be for I graduated. I attended the University of Wyoming and reveived a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I then moved to Lincoln, NE. I started work at the University of Nebraska and also worked on a Master's degree in Special Education.
My interest in genealogy started a few years after I moved to Nebraska. I kept getting phone calls asking if I was related to so and so...I could not really answer them so I thought I had better find out. I started with some family history that was done in the family before I was born and went from there. I have been do this for many years now and have learned a lot along the way. I found lots of mistakes and made some of my own, but I have a better sense of who I am from the stories of the people who have come before me. One such line said that we, the CARD's had more royal lines than most Americans. I have found that this is true. Another line had a coat of Arms with a Lamp stand on the top of it for knowledge. It is interesting to see how many descendants became scholars and/or teachers.
