Biography

He was born about 1702 In Fauquier County, Virginia and his parents were Mary Ann (Parker) and John Carden.

Robert James Carden married about 1730 in Virginia to Phyllis Woolbank. [1] and they had about fifteen children.

He served as a Second Lieutenant during the American Revolutionary War. [2]

In 1783 he resided in Powhatan County, Virginia, USA. [3]

He passed away on 16 Jun 1785 in Goochland County, Virginia and was buried at Carden Cemetery in Coffee County, Tennessee, USA. [4]

Will

In the name of God Amen, I, Robert Carden of Goochland County and the Parish of St.James Northam being sick of body but of sound and perfect sence and memory thanks to the Almighty God for the same and knowing the uncertainty of this life and that it is appointed for all men once to die do make constitute and appoint this my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit ...

Imprimus: My will and desire is that all my lawful debts should be paid first convenient after my decease.

Item: My will and desire is tat all my estate real and personal, I lend to my beloved wife Phillis, during her natural life of widowhood; after her marriage or decease, my will and desire is that all my estate real and personal be equally divided amongst all my children, share and share alike to wit: John, Molly, Larkin, Robert, James, Jesse, Leonard, Sally, Dicey, Patty, Archer; to have an equal share with each other.

Lastly I constitute and appoint my beloved wife, Robert Cardin, Reuben Cardin, Executors, to this my last Will and testament. In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal, this fourth day of January one thousand seven hundred and eighty five.

Fauquier County was established on May 1, 1759, from Prince William County. Robert Carden born 1700-1702 was not born in Fauquier.
