Biography

Luis Cardona was born on 6 Nov 1889 in Beeville, Bee County, Texas. His parents were Antonio Cardona and Francisca Arguijo.

Luis married Nicasia Ojeda and from this union they had the following children: Noemi, Luis, Udelia, Elida, Cristobal, and Tito.

1920 United States Census cited the following: Luis Cardona, Head, 28 yrs; Nicasia O. Cardona, Wife, 27 years; Juan Ojeda, Nephew, 12 years; Brigida Ojeda , Niece, 10 years; and Jesusa G Ojeda, mother-in-law, 50 years, born in Mexico. All household members, except Jesusa, were born in the States of Texas. Event Date: 31 Jan 1920. Event Place: 1112 S. Leona Street, San Antonio, Texas. Luis occupation: Fireman for the Railroad.

The 1930 United States Census documented the following: Luis Cardona, Head, age 40; Nicacio O. Cardona, wife, age 37; Eudelia Cardona, daughter, age 8; Cristobal Cardona, son, age 4; Luis Cardona, son, age 2; and Jesusa O Gonzalez, monther-in-law, age 65, born in Mexico. All other household members were born in the State of Texas. Event date: 16 Apr 1930. Event Place: W. Martin Street, San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas. Census further stated that Luis was employed with the railroad in yard service. Nicasia did sewing at home.

Luis registered for the United States World War II draft in 1946. His residence was 2410 San Luis Street, San Antonio, Texas. His employer was M-K-T- Railraod as a boiler maker helper in San Antonio, Texas. His serial number was 2836.

Luis passed away on 01 Mar 1965, 3:10 am, at his residence 2410 San Luis Street, San Antonio, Texas. He was 72 years of age and widowed. Occupation: Boiler Maker for the Railroad. Informant was his son Luis Cardona, Jr. He served in the military during World War I. Cause of death: Acute Circulatory Failure due to Acute Coronary Thrombosis. Funeral arrangement by Max Martinez Funeral Home, San Antonio, Texas. Burial: 03 Mar 1965 in San Jose Burial Park, San Antonio, Texas. Plot: Block 4, Section 1, Withing lots 181-304.
