Biography

Lucile was born in North Carolina about 1901. She was twin sister of Louise, both daughters of Robert Cardwell and Ida Webster. Lucile attended Guilford College. In 1924 she married John Currie Thompson and together they were parents of a son. After John’s death, in 1945 Lucile married Howell Grady Pickett. Lucile passed away in Greensboro in 1977 at age 75. She is buried in her hometown of Madison, North Carolina.

Notes

There has been an obvious error in indexing birth dates of Lucile and her sister Louise. Subsequent records vary and are inconclusive. Lucile’s death record and tombstone list another date 12 Sep 1901 which would still be a descrepancy with a sister’s birthdate a month later. Is one of their years off by a digit or possibly they are twins with 6 days between them recorded incorrectly? Their S.S. death index uses the dates given in birth indexes shown below. ***Received information from Family member stating Louise and Lucile were twins and they always celebrated her great grandmother Louise’s birthday on October 12. A photocopy of Bible page listing all the children’s birthdates is difficult to read but is definitely not an “8”.
