Biography

James was born in 1761. He was the son of John Cardwell and Keziah Lowe. He passed away in 1806.[1]

James married Sarah Sally Crockett on 4 May 1788 in Mercer County.

The marriage bond for James Cardwell & Sary Crocket was signed by James Cardwell and Anthony Crocket on 3 May 1788 in Mercer County, Kentucky, then part of Virginia. (James and Anthony ...bound to his Excellency Edmund Randolph, Esq Governor of Virginia...)[2]

James Cardwell was listed in Mercer County, Kentucky tax lists in 1789[3] and 1800[4].

James died 29 Oct 1806 in Mercer County, Kentucky and is buried in the New Providence Presbyterian Cemetery in McAfee, Mercer County, Kentucky.[1]

Sally Cardwell was paid a widow's pension for James' Revolutionary War service from 1836 thru 1848 from the Kentucky Pension Office.[5] Index of Revolutionary War Pension Applications: "Cardwell James, Va., Sarah, W2998".[6]
