John was born c1500 in Haccombe, Devon, England, the son of John Carew and [[Zouche-94|Katherine Zouche]

John Carew married Elizabeth, daughter of William Martyn.

Research Notes

Visitations of Devon says he died on 31 May 1529 at Naples, Italy of the Plague.

Rivers Carew, 11th Baronet of Haccombe has researched the Carews of Devon using both family materials and those available on line and states that this John Carew died in the Battle of Pavia 24 Feb 1525 and that the John Carew who died in Italy was possibly a son of John but this he could not verify.

Interestingly Sir Peter Carew also fought at Pavia with a cousin which may have been John (Though ‘cousin’ in the loosest sense would apply)
