Biography

Anna Martha Carey was born in June, 1872 in Ohio. She married Charles Grant Jackson in 1899. Anna and Charles had three children. Anna died in 1917. Anna’s known residence record is as follows:

  • 1880: Newton, Miami, Ohio.
  • 1900: Lostcreek, Miami, Ohio.
  • 1910: Loramie, Shelby, Ohio.
  • 1912: Toledo, Ohio.[1]

Charles G. Jackson and Martha G. Carey were married on 9 April 1899 in Miami county, Ohio. It was the first marriage for both parties. Charles was born in Montgomery county, Ohio, the son of Jessie Jackson and Katie Smith. Martha was 26, born in 1873, the daughter of John Carey and Annie Reiber. [2]

In 1900, the Jackson family lived in Lost Creek Township, Casstown Village, Miami county, Ohio. The household included Charles G. Jackson, 32, born in Ohio in May 1868, whose father was b. PA, and whose mother was b. Ohio, a farmer, who could read and write, and who rented their farm; his wife of one year, Martha A., 28, b. Jan 1872 in Ohio, whose parents were b. Ohio. Martha had had one child (unnamed infant below); Charles’ two children from his previous marriage: Lester G., 9, b. Jan 1891 in OH; and Hazel M., 7, b. Jan 1893 in OH; the newborn infant daughter of Charles and Martha, b. May 1900 in OH; and Martha’s sister, Catherine Carey, 21, b. May 1879 in OH, a servant. Martha and Catherine could read and write. [3]

In 1905, they lived on the first farm South of Pleasant Hill, Newton Township, Miami county, Ohio, when their third child, daughter Frances was born on 7 March 1905. At the time, Charles Grant Jackson was 37, a farmer, who was born in Montgomery, Ohio. Martha Jane (Carey) Jackson was 32, born in Newton Township, Miami, Ohio. [4]
