When Laura Maroe Carey was born on June 17, 1829, in Fenner, New York, her father, Oliver, was 41, and her mother, Elizabeth, was 31. She married John William Eddy in 1848 in her hometown. They had three children during their marriage. She died on May 13, 1865, in Red Wing, Minnesota, at the age of 35. [1]
In 1850, Laura,21, her husband, John William, 26 and her 1 year old child, Ellen Amelia were living in Fenner, New York with John's father. He was a sash maker and his father was a farmer.
In 1855, the New York census from Fenner showed John William, Lucy (same info as Laura, a nickname?), Ellen, 6, and Stillman, 3, living in an owned house. He was a sashmaker. His father, Elias, 61, was living on one side and his brother, Harvey was living on the other. The three men owned their homes and could vote.
In 1860 the family was in a home in Fenner, New York with three children. Ellen Amelia,11, Barkley S (Stillman), 9, and Almon, 3. John William was a farmer.
