OBIT - Ronald E. Carey, 61, Harrodsburg, and formerly of Concord, NC, husband of Shirley Alcorn Carey, died Sunday, July 10, 2005 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born Feb. 26, 1944 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late William Andy and Margaret Carey. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and he was a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge #777 F & AM, the American Legion, VFW and DAV. He was a member of Shawnee Run Baptist Church, he was a retired IBM employee, and he was a former employee of NASCAR team Petty Enterprises. In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, Ronald Jeffery Carey of Burgin; two step-sons, Keith Todd (Trisha) Jackson of Lancaster and CW2 Kevin Lynn (Leigh) Jackson of Germany; one sister, Georgie Ann (Granville) Sherrow of Harrodsburg; one brother, Kenneth A. (Judy) Carey, also of Harrodsburg; five grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be today, Thursday, at 2 p.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Ralph Neal officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be G. T. Shannon, Alex Jarman, Ed Sweasy, Steward Horne, Harold Johnson, Scott Hulette, Terry Bradford and Luther Coffey. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 until 9 p.m. and Thursday after 7 a.m. at the funeral home. Masonic Rites will be Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
