James Carey was born on 12 Sep 1813 in Deerfield, Oneida, New York, United States, son of James Cary (1788–1859) and Mercy (Weaver) Cary (1789–1859).[1]

His siblings were:

James died on 5 Oct 1893 in Port Huron, St Clair, Michigan, United States, aged 80. He was buried in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron, St.[1]

James (24) married Sarah (Lamphere) Carey (20) (born on 14 Aug 1817 in Little Falls, Herkimer, New York) in 1838. Their known daughter was Ada Madeline (Carey) Davis (1853–1926).
