Biography

Margaret Cargill was probably born in the village of Auchmithie, in St Vigeans parish, Angus where the Cargill were one of the earliest fishing families settled there.

On 10 Nov 1738 Margaret Cargill married a local fisherman, James Spink. [1]

James Spink and Margaret Cargill lived their lives in Seatown of Auchmithie and had seven children all born there:

  • Margaret b.1738 may have mar. James Smith circa 1775
  • Helen b. 1739
  • James b. 1742
  • David b. 1744 mar. Katherine Smith
  • John b. 1746 mar. Janet Swankie
  • Agnes b. 1748
  • Isabell b. 1751


It is not discovered when Margaret died.
