Samuel, b. in 1768 and bapt. in Newcastle 21 Feb. 1769; d. 10 April 1841 aged 72; m. Mary Simpson whose death date is illegible on the gravestone in the old Sheepscot cemetery, where they are both buried. Samuel Cargill was a ship captain and was part owner of the sloop Sally which was captured by the French and figured in the French Spoliation Claims case of 1798 (George Rice, Shipping Days at Old Boothbay, 1938)[1]..
