Obituary

HAZEL JEANETTE JOSEPHINE CARL ENOCHS, 102 years and 1 month, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015, at her apartment at Bell Trace Health & Living, Bloomington, Ind. Born on Feb. 21, 1913, in Fort Wayne, she lived the first 99 years of her life in Fort Wayne before moving to Bloomington to be closer to her beloved son and his family. In Fort Wayne, Hazel was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and enjoyed many years of sewing and companionship with the Sewing Guild Ladies at St. John's. Hazel was an excellent cook and a bingo player extraordinaire her entire life. Her fruit cakes were loved by her son; many feared her bingo expertise.

After the age of 70, Hazel's love of travel and curiosity got the best of her and she traveled to Yugoslavia, Italy and China. Her secrets to a long life included bacon, butter, salt, sugar and an occasional margarita (on the rocks, no salt).

Survivors include her two sons, step-daughter-in-law, and step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adlor P. Carl and Eunice Martin Carl; husband, Virgil Enochs; stepson, William "Bill" Enochs; brother, Martin L. Carl; and sisters, Wanda Estes and Ruth M. Marvin. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Father Daniel Whelan officiating. D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Chapel. Burial in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. [2]
