David Carlisle was born about 1845[1], probably at the family farm at Tullynamullan, Kells, Co. Antrim, Ireland. He was the son of Alexander Carlisle[2].
David Carlisle, a farmer from Tullynamullan, Kells, Co. Antrim married Matilda Davidson from Groggan, Co. Antrim on 9 November 1881 at Connor, Co. Antrim, Ireland[2]. Agnes Davidson, probably Matilda's sister, was a witness.
David and Matilda had seven children before Matilda died from a bout of measles in 1894: Lizzie Graham Carlisle, James Calisle (James and Lizzie were twins), John Carlisle, Rachel Carlisle, Alexander Carlisle, David Carlisle and Matilda Carlisle.
David Carlisle married Elizabeth McAuley on 17 May 1895 at Antrim, Co. Antrim, Ireland[3].
In the 1901 Ireland census, David Carlisle was age 52, a farmer living at Tullynamullan, Kells, Co. Antrim with his wife Lizzie Carlisle (45), and his children Lizzie Graham Carlisle (19), John Carlisle (17), Rachel Carlisle (16), Alexander Carlisle (14), David Carlisle (11), Matilda Carlisle (8), also Ellin Baeck (22), servant[4].
In the 1911 Ireland census, David Carlisle was age 63, a farmer and grocer, living at Tullynamullan, Kells, Co. Antrim with his wife Lizzie Carlisle (60) and his children David Carlisle (21), Tillie Carlisle (18), also David McCullen (62), farm servant[5].
David Carlisle died in 1920 in Tullynamullan, Kells, Co. Antrim[1].
