Biography

This match was first derived through DNA matching with several Carlock family members on Chr. #15. Isaac Carlock settled in DeWitt County, IL. The marriage between Mary Polly Carlock, Isaac's eldest daughter from his first marriage, and Joseph Murphy was recorded in Macon County, IL, from which DeWitt County was formed. Marion Pomeroy Carlock's "History of the Carlock Family and Adventures of Pioneer Americans, page 446, contains sparse information relating to Mary Polly Carlock and her marriage to ______Murphy. Their children George and Jay are mentioned and that Jay became an ordained minister. The 1850 Census for DeWitt County, IL, dated 12 December 1850 has Joseph, Mary, and their four sons, Isaac J, Alfred, Joseph, and George in the household.
