Biography

Narcisse J. Carmouche was born in 1846 in Louisiana. He was the son of Louis Carmouche and Julie Porche.

The 1870 Census[1] shows him at age 24 in the home of his (apparently) widowed father in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. He is a farm laborer.

The 1880 Census[2] shows him at age 33, single, in the home of his widowed father in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. He is a laborer.

He married his first cousin once removed, Josephine Monteilh, on 16 May 1889 in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. [3] [4] Their children:

  1. Blaunshe Mary Carmouche (1890–1920)
  2. Augustine "Gus" Carmouche (1892–Deceased)
  3. August Joseph Carmouche (1892–1981)
  4. Stella Carmouche (1896–Deceased)
  5. George Narcisse Carmouche (1897–Deceased)
  6. Phillip Eduard Carmouche (1898–Deceased)

The 1910 Census[5] shows him at age 63 with his wife and six children in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. He is a farmer on a general farm. This census states that his wife is the mother of 6 children with 6 still living.

The 1920 Census[6] shows him at age 73 with his wife and six children in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. He is a farmer on a general farm.

He died in 1922 in Louisiana.[7]

Research Notes

The birth date, 5 Nov 1846, was found in Family Search, but no source gives that date. The sources found there do give dates such as 1846 and 1847, which are consistent, so it has been used on this profile, but with this caveat: that the exact date is yet undocumented.
